Therapeutic contact lenses
Some ocular pathologies (such as glaucoma or certain corneal lesions) can be treated by wearing a therapeutic contact lens (soft or rigid). This one acts as a bandage and/or as a drug reservoir. Its use is generally temporary and requires strict medical supervision because the risks of incidents and, above all, complications are much higher than when wearing lenses for the correction of a simple visual defect.
During the consultation, your ophthalmologist determines the type of lens that best suits your case. They will then proceed with the proper fitting of trials to precisely adjust the characteristics of the lens. They will specify the type of wear recommended in your case: continuous wear (day and night) is most often preferred for therapeutic contact lenses.
Monitoring by your ophthalmologist is essential. An eye affected by a pathology is particularly vulnerable, and continuous wear significantly increases the risks inherent in wearing contact lenses. Therefore, any unusual symptom should lead to an emergency consultation.
We recommend that you never use tap water or bottled mineral water to rinse lenses and cases. All fresh water should be avoided. It is also recommended not to use your lenses in swimming pools, lakes, rivers, jacuzzis, hammams, or showers.
If you have any questions about the use or maintenance of your contact lenses, your Opticien Platinum is available to inform you in Agen, Bandol, Besançon, Grenoble, or Limoges.
